THIS IS MINE is a 78,000-word comedic coming-of-age novel currently out on submission.

The work follows Julius "Lil' Noam" Bolan, a broke, agoraphobic twenty-year-old would-be cartoonist who – desperate to avoid eviction from the apartment he shares with his two best friends – declares their unit's independence from the United States and unilaterally invalidates their lease agrement. Unfortunately for him, this is the easy part. To protect what he increasingly views as his by right, Lil' Noam will have to forge an ideology, inspire his roommates with state propaganda, build a national economy, take on his no-nonsense landlady, win a guerilla war against a senile neighbor, overcome his severe anxiety disorder, embrace the violence at the heart of nationhood, and – perhaps hardest of all – grow up.
